Jungle Roar

Happy Independence Day

I hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July Celebration in safety and with a lot of fun!  I would like to continue in this months “Roar” with the accolades bestowed upon our wonderful club over time.

Before I go on with my message our sincerest sympathy goes out to three more of our BRCC Families on the passing of their love ones. Cheryl Ard and Mark Jurey have both loss their mothers and Leon Winstead’s brother Sam, from Florida, passed away.  Members of the club we are mourning far too many family and friends.  This makes a total of five with in the past 2 months.  It is very heartwarming to see how much our club comes together in a time of sorrow.

On another devastating note, one of our favorite restaurants, home to our annual steak out and occasional LMC, Charlie’s had a fire recently destroying the back of their building.  The dining area and kitchen were spared except for quite a bit of smoke and soot damage.  They are hoping to be back in service in just a few weeks.  If need be, we will push our August dinner back when they are ready.

Now as I promised in my opening statement.  As I read my e-mails and listen carefully to others, I have come to realize more and more the involvement and fun our club has in the community, statewide and out of state.  Recently I reviewed the list of National Corvette Museum Flag participants.  We were the ONLY club from Louisiana to have a flag flying there.  I had NO idea.  I was bursting with pride!

From our last minute cruises to club shows or simply participating at cruise nights or local displays, there’s usually several BRCC rmembers present.  We have gained as much out of state recognition and respect as we have from our own state and local participation.  It doesn’t matter if you can make all of the shows, etc., what matters is you have fun when you can attend.  The greatest compliment a club can receive is when we are mentioned somewhere and it sparks immediate recognition and approval of the Baton Rouge Corvette Club.

On a final note, this year’s donation to St. Jude is $70,150.00.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, BRCC members, you are the BEST!

In closing, don’t forget to save the wave, it’s the proud thing to do!  Happy Birthday Corvette – June 30th was your big day and the day to drive your car to work!
